To function correctly, our SDK must be configured with certain authentication credentials within each mobile app build. For more details see this article on how authentication credentials are used.
Authentication credentials are generated for each unique 'App Key' which is associated with your account (your account may enable you to have multiple App Keys).
An App Key is a permanent unique 8-character code like this: 'JYgKyqwR'
Generating a new App Key happens either:
- When you initially create a new account via https://app.crowdconnected.com/register
or - By adding a new App Key to a User Group, if you are the owner of that user group.
To add a new App Key to a user group, you should navigate to My Account>User Group Management. If you manage more than one user group, select the user group from the dropdown to which you want to add a new App Key.
Click on 'Create new app key' button and fill in the details, specifically you'll need to give the app key a name. If your app is an event app that services recurring events, we'd recommend you append an identifier to the event name e.g. "Glastonbury 2022" (to distinguish it from "Glastonbury 2023").
App key names can be edited on this same user group management UI.
The App Key the console is currently logged into is displayed on the top of the Developer Setup module. It can also be found in the dropdown 'My current app key' in the My Account module (which is where you can swap between App Keys, if you have more than one).
