The message state is shown in a coloured bar at the left end of each message listed in the main Messaging UI. A filtered view will show messages in selected states only.
State |
Explanation |
Draft |
A message in draft requires approval ('publish') before it will be sent. Initially saving a message as 'draft' allows for an editorial workflow where a second pair of eyes to review the message content and audience targeting rules before it sent. |
Published |
Once approved a message state should be moved to published. When the time rule(s) for the message to become active are met (either for broadcast as a set single time, or to be triggered over a period of time), it will commence sending. |
Processing |
This state is when the system is compiling qualifiers for a message. Typically a message will only be in this state briefly, although if the rules are complex and the potential audience size is large then 'Processing' may last for a few minutes (up to a maximum of 10). |
Active |
A message is "active" when it is live, i.e. during the time window set for sending. |
Paused |
A message can be paused to stop sending either temporarily or permanently (if never unpaused). |
