Without needing any real beacons it is possible for you to simulate beacons and check that positions for the blue dot are correctly being generated. To do this you can download this Beacon simulator app* onto a separate Android device from where you will be running your app or our Sail demo app, available to download from iOS app store and Google Play.
With the beacon simulator app installed you can then add click on the plus icon and choose either iBeacon or Eddystone UID (if you have configured Sail with Eddystone beacons). Then fill out the required fields for the beacon type such as UUID, Major and Minor. The Tx Power and Broadcast settings can be left as their default values. Then repeat this a further 2 times so that you are simulating 3 different beacons, this is the minimum required for our library to operate.
On the test device running the Sail Demo app, scan the QR code or provide the SDK token if using your own app. If using the Sail app, click get started and you should then see green ticks for each step, and you can then click on 'Tap to go to map'. You should now be seeing a blue dot on the map. As the beacons are simulated the blue dot may jump around and/or not appear in the correct position.
